The Change Clinic™

Building the capacity to lead change and make it hold.

Change is constant, and it rarely waits for permission. The leaders who do well are the ones who learn to lead it rather than wait it out. This program starts with you and your team before the change is announced, treats resistance as useful information, and stays with the change until it holds.

The Clinic at a glance

Is this the right Clinic for you?

How change takes hold, what to prepare before the announcement, and how to make it last.

Who it is for

Leaders who are carrying a change through a team: a reorganization, a merger, a new system, new technology, or a new strategy.

The specialist examination

The Change Reading, which examines your own stance toward the change, your team's readiness for it, and everyone the change will touch.

The program, in the method

Six modules, one for each step.

Examine — The Change Reading. Your stance toward the change, your team's readiness, and everyone the change will touch.
Diagnose — Change, Diagnosed. Why change takes hold or stalls, and where resistance in your situation will come from.
Prescribe — Before the Announcement. The case for the change, the sequence, and the expectations that have to be reset.
Treat — Carrying It Through. The announcement, the conversations after it, and resistance worked with rather than against.
Follow Up — Is It Holding? What has been adopted, what has slipped back, and what to do about each.
Maintain — Changing on a Different Plane. The Regimen, so that you are ready for the next change.
By the end, you will be able to
Examine your own stance toward the change, and lead it with conviction.
Read your team's readiness, and predict where resistance will come from and why.
Build the case and the sequence for the change before it is announced.
Lead the announcement and the hard conversations that follow it.
Check whether the change is holding, and adjust before it slips back.
The outcome

What you leave with, and what makes it different.

What you leave with
Your Change Reading results and a map of everyone the change touches.
A written diagnosis of where resistance will come from and why.
A change plan, sequenced from before the announcement to after it.
The announcement and the hardest conversations, prepared and practiced.
An adoption check that shows what is holding and what is not.
The Regimen, and the full program document in your vault, to keep.
What makes it different
It starts before the announcement. Most change programs start at the rollout.
It treats resistance as information about the change, not as a problem with people.
It traces resistance to its source with the Doors of Conflict, the same framework used in The Conflict Clinic™.
It is led by a practitioner whose Ph.D. specialty is organizational change, and who has built and led four organizations through growth and change.
How it runs
Sessions. Six modules in 90-minute sessions. The schedule is set at your consultation. Each session is 45 minutes of instruction and 45 minutes of practice.
Delivery. One-on-one, in a small group of four to six, or for a team inside your organization.
Options. The full Clinic, or one module at a time.
Included. The specialist examination, every module with practice, the self-paced course, and the full program document in your vault.
Coaching. Available around the program, one-on-one or in a group.

Grounded in Lewin's model of change; Kotter's work on why transformation efforts fail; Bridges on managing transitions; Armenakis and Harris on readiness for change.
