The Leadership Doctor® method

Examine. Diagnose. Prescribe.
Treat. Follow Up. Maintain.

A good doctor does not prescribe what she has not examined, and does not want you back next month with the same complaint. Neither do I.

There are thousands of good coaches. Very few examine you before they tell you what to do. Here, you are diagnosed before you are coached, you own the diagnosis, and your progress is measured rather than assumed.

At your Check-Up
Examine. We start with a thorough look at where you are: your history, your role, your results, your goals, and what is standing between them. You complete an intake before we meet. In our first sessions we take your Vital Signs, eight readings that show where you are strong and where you are stuck. Then three people who know your work give a second opinion. You will see exactly where you stand.
Diagnose. Then we look at what the examination found, in writing and together: what we found, what we think it means, what matters most and why, and what we are not yet sure of. No jargon, no forty-page report. We discuss it until it is a reading you agree with.
Prescribe. You leave your Check-Up with clear goals: a prescription you wrote half of, in an order I recommend and you understand. Where it helps, it includes a reading or an assessment, chosen for what we found, which we will discuss the way a professor would. It is yours whether or not you continue with me.
In care
Treat. If you continue, we work the prescription together. Sessions, assignments, and a coach who holds you to it. Treatment is what we do in the room.
Follow Up. Between sessions the new habits meet real situations. Follow-up is how we make sure the change holds, and we retake your Vital Signs so you can see the movement.
Maintain. Change does not stop, so neither does readiness. Ongoing Care keeps you current with a simple regimen for staying fit to lead.

A good doctor does not prescribe what she has not examined.

The examination

Your Vital Signs.

Eight readings, taken at your Check-Up and again as you progress. Most leaders are strong in several and stuck in one. Finding the one is the point.

Self-Actualization

Vital Signs are the general examination. The Clinics begin with a specialist examination of their own, the H.E.A.R.T. Exam, included with the program.

The Regimen.

Six practices that keep a leader ready. You learn them in treatment and keep them in maintenance.

Six practices

Revealed in care.

The Regimen is prescribed in treatment and kept in maintenance. It is part of your care, not the brochure.

Start with a Check-Up.

Everything begins with the examination. Nothing is prescribed before it.
